If you work with color in any capacity, you know that purples can be polarizing and so very hard to get right.

As an artist, I find it to be one of the most difficult colors to mix. It is a tense marriage of opposite ends of the spectrum - blue and red. 💙 ♥️

Purple requires a studied balance, a lot of experimenting, and a willingness to let go and let each color speak. Mix with too much red and it gets muddy. Too much blue and it gets too mellow. The perfect purple has the stability of blue and the energy of red working together.

Purple is historically associated with royalty, culturally aligned with femininity & fertility; and within the Christian church a symbol of reflection, confession, and humility. Politically, it represents unity.

No matter the outcome of today’s election, I hope that the people of our country can act nobly for one another, with a maternal sense of care and duty, and the divine level of self-reflection and humility required for understanding. For the love of the world we share. Purple is the only way.
